It’s really exciting! And what’s
even better, you can’t lose!
Here’s how to play!
Get the best riders and all the best
motorcycles in the world—Yamaha,
BMW’s, Nortons, Suzukis, Harley-
Davidsons, Kawasakis, Triumphs and
Hondas—and divide them into roadracing
classes. Novice, Junior, Expert-Junior
I Combined, and 200 Mile Expert.
Then line each group up at the
starting line, and run them all around the
track.
Next, move all the Yamahas up to
the front, and put the other bikes either
well back on the track or, even better, in
the pits.
The rest is easy.
Wave a black and white winner’s
flag at one of the Yamaha motorcycles in
every group. And if you’re playing
250 Motocross, move a Yamaha to
the front, and keep it there as
long as you play.
Oh, one other thing. If you like,
you can leave out the BMW’s and the
Nortons and the
Kawasakis and the Triumphs
and the Hondas.
It really doesn’t make any
difference. The game always
comes out the same way.
On Friday afternoon,
This is America's number one, AMA Champion
Kenny Roberts. Having a little problem with
his bike, Kenny settled for second in both the 250cc
Combined and the 200Mile. (148 other riders
wished they could have had that kind of problem.)
Don Castro spent Daytona Week racing his
Yamaha teammates. He settled for fourth in the
200 Mile. In the 250cc Combined, he settled
for first.
over 102 miles per hour. He
won the Junior Trophy.
v Since Yamaha Team Rider
Pierre Karsmakers won the
Daytona Open Motocross
Race on a 360 in 1973, he
though t maybe th is year
' he'd win the 250 class
instead. Needless
to say...
This is the winner of the 1974
Daytona 200 Mile Road Race,
Yamaha Team Rider Giacomo
Agostini. According to rumor,
he is a very handsome Italian.
The Daytona racers cannot *
confirm this, since they have only
seen him from the back.
Yamaha Team Rider
Gene Romero figured his/,
new stock TZ750 might just Iffi
be able to break the eleven- (■
year-old record for a one -JI
hour run. He was right. The I
record is now 150.6725 13
for the A MA Flying Hour.
This is the Daytona International Speedway,
located near Yamaha Beach, Florida.
Some interesting notes about this track:
In the four major road races of the 1974 Classic,
Yamaha machines won all four firsts,
all four seconds, and three of the third places.
In fact, of the top twenty finishers in all
four races, all but seven were Yamahas.
Novice John Volkman tra veled
3,050 miles to win the
Novice Class. 3,000 miles
from Seal Beach, California,
and fifty miles around the
Daytona race track on
______ his Yamaha.
These are the first place trophies for the Daytona Road Races
and the 250 MX Race. Notice that they all say Yamaha. It’s rumored that
they were engraved this way before the race, to save time.
